DISCIPLESHIP PROCESS

INTENTION
To pursue and develop our relationship with Christ so that we know Him and can imitate Him as much as possible so that we can be used by Christ.

FOCUS

1. We must prayerfully pursue God for wisdom, knowledge, and discernment daily on behalf of our own personal obedience.

2. We must pray for the protection of our wives, family and close friends.

3. We must pray that we would recognize who God places in our lives to minister to and that we would be faithful in those moments.

THE DISCIPLER MUST……..

1. Surrender your own conveniences.

2. Pray passionately for your self, your family, your 10 most wanted, and your 1, 3, and 12.

3. Know this information for your own life.

4. Practice these principles privately.

5. Model these truths and practices PUBLICLY for others to imitate (not for praise).

6. Commit to seven significant moments of interaction with each person you target.

When you meet someone your goal is to collect information.  What is the largest, deepest, realized need of the person?  You cannot give counsel until both you and the person you are speaking have the exact same understanding of what the need is.

1. Identify the need.  You genuinely want to get to know the person

2. Have the person verbally paint a clear picture of the need

3. Find out how much pain and how long the need has existed

4. Ask for permission to be honest

5. Point out the true spiritual need

6. Ask, “How do you feel about what I just said?”

7. Close by praying for that individuals specific needs

8. Pray for God to reveal their unique purpose and calling

This list will help you identify where someone stands spiritually and track their progress over time.  You will use this in conjunction with your prayer List of 72.

TYPICAL SPIRITUAL MATURITY LEVELS (Step 12 is the ultimate goal)
Step 1              Aware of or exposed to God/things of God.
Step 2              Attend Church but have no visible relationship with God.
Step 3              Know details about God, intentions are good but haven’t established a  relationship                         with God yet.
Step 4              Curiosity and interest in a relationship with God has been sparked.
Step 5              The concept of salvation has been introduced and is understood but a decision to                         surrender to
Jesus Christ has not yet been made.
Step 6              A personal relationship with Christ has been established because of trusting Christ
as Savior and for complete direction in life.
Step 7              A disciplined devotional and/or prayer time routine is established.
Step 8              An active/growing relationship with Christ is experienced.
Step 9              Biblical principles for following Christ are actively practiced.
Step 10            Spiritual fruit is evident as a result of personal faithfulness to Christ. Friends and
                        acquaintances spiritually benefit.
Step 11            Society and spiritually mature leaders recognize this growth and help establish
                        leadership opportunities among peers.
Step 12            Actively leading others to Christ and assisting in their spiritual maturation.
